" Very poor communication "

About: Age UK Maidstone

In June I was informed verbally by Appetito that as of August the 1st 2022 Kcc would not be contracting them to deliver hot meals on wheels for my 83 Yr old mother. I contacted Age Uk Maidstone (who also Provide hot meals on wheels) with the Information given to me from Appetito, so they could add my mother to there client list, the woman I spoke to had said she knew nothing about it and put me through to someone higher who could help.

When I explained what I had been told she said that she would get in touch with Kcc by email because Kcc hadn't informed them about the situation and that she would then call me back in 48hrs.

1 week later I had not received a call back so I phoned them and left a message on the answer phone asking them to ring me back

A further week later I still had not received a call back so again I left a message to call me back.

Today I rang again a further week later and actually spoke to someone who informed me that my mother is not on there waiting list for meals on wheels and they will not be adding any new clients to there meals on wheels because they don't have enough drivers to deliver the meals but they could put her on a waiting list but wouldn't be able to deliver from the 1st August, I informed the the lady that I spoke to that I was very disappointed and angry that I had not been informed sooner by Age Uk Maidstone a lot sooner, I now have 10 days in which to find my mother a alternative who can provide her a hot meal at short notice.

I thought Age Uk where here to help the elderly and vulnerable in Maidstone, but they certainly haven't in this Instance.

Thanks for nothing Age Uk Maidstone.
