"Going the extra mile"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

On 7th July I took ill at work, I proceeded to complete 111 online questionnaire which flagged up to get an ambulance. After speaking to my management team an ambulance was ordered. This arrived shortly after. The two paramedics couldn't have been nicer. They were very attentive. From the moment I arrived at Northumbrian Hospital the staff were courteous and attentive. Even the person taking my bloods was very patient and polite even after 3 attempts to retrieve it. I was taken to cubicle no 15 where they tried again for my bloods, successfully this time. I didn't have to wait too long before a female nurse practitioner came round to discuss results and outcome. She was very pleasant and explained everything fully. When she asked how I was getting home, I explained that I had no means of transport to get back for my car at work or to get home. A short while later someone else came round and took my work address details. Next thing I know a taxi was there to pick me up, prepaid. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. Every one at Northumbrian Hospital couldn't have been nicer. They exceeded expectations in every way. Keep up the good work.

Dear Tracy,

I am sorry to read that you were unwell recently and needed medical attention. I imagine this must have been a worrying time for you and your colleagues. I do hope you are now feeling better?

It is great that your care was so swift and that you felt so well cared for by the team at The Northumbria hospital. The manner in which you have described their pleasant and holistic approach to your needs is exemplary. It will be a pleasure to share your review with the team who were on duty in the department on the 7h July.

I will also do what I can to ensure our ambulance colleagues are given the opportunity to read your review.

All the best with your recovery,

Paul
