About: Gartnavel General Hospital / Breast Clinic

(as the patient),

I recently went to my GP with concerns about a breast lump. I was anxious but she was thorough and reassuring and referred me to the breast clinic at Gartnavel General hospital. I was surprised to receive an appointment for just 12 days after my GP appointment. The clinic staff are were all so caring and reassuring, they did their best to make me feel comfortable during uncomfortable procedures.

The way the clinic ran was so efficient as a one stop shop. I had results in writing 10 days after my appointment. I cannot praise this service and how it runs enough. Its exemplary. A gold standard for the NHS. I can't remember the names of all the staff who supported and cared for me but Avril, the radiologist was such a kind and caring professional while I underwent my first and second mammograms that day and Sian was such a supportive nurse while I had an ultrasound.

I'm sorry to say I can't remember the senior registrars name or nurses name who supported me during the biopsy but both were exceptional and thanks to all the staff - what was an anxious day wasn't a lonely day. Within 3 weeks of a GP appointment, I was seen and my concerns investigated and results received. I feel very grateful for the care I received.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on Care Opinion.

This must have been a really difficult period of your life so to hear the whole process went smoothly is very heart warming and a credit to the staff involved.

It was great to hear how the staff took the time to reassure you and talk you through any uncomfortable procedures that needed to be done prior to your examinations.

It was also lovely to hear how efficient the whole process was from start to finish and how much you appreciated all the staff's efforts this was very thoughtful.

I will be sure to feed back your comments to the staff involved including Avril and Sian who I'm sure will be touched to hear they made a difference while you were under their care.

I hope your feeling a lot better.
