My son was diagnosed with a gallstone occluding his gallbladder and bilary tract last December 2021 and was informed that he would require urgent surgery. July 2022 and he is still waiting! This is despite regular attendance to A&E (Wishaw and Hairmyers) and visits to GP.
He has now lost a considerable amount of weight, is unable to work on a regular basis and is in pain. So much so that he was admitted last night to Wishaw General and discharged with no forward plan for surgery yet again. He was advised previously that he was on a waiting list but was last night informed by the attending medic that there had a been a failure to place him on any list! Are you waiting for his gallbladder to rupture where he will require extensive risky surgery?
Come on NHS Lanarkshire this standard of care is really not good enough. He has been forgotten about, ignored and generally not shown any care and compassion that the NHS prides itself on.
I am writing this on his behalf due to his level of dyslexia and learning difficulties. This requires urgent action before a poor outcome with harm is inevitable.
"Failure to place him on any list!"
