"Everyone in the team was attentive & looked after me well"

About: Accident & Emergency / Emergency Theatres General practices in Tayside Ninewells Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I had 1 day of abdominal pain. I had an on the day appointment on the Monday morning with my GP, Dr Levison who was very kind, listened to my story, examined me and diagnosed me right away and sent me up to see the surgical team in Ninewells Ward 7.

Prompt assessment by the Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) there who kept me in the loop with the blood results and then I was seen by the Registrar Majit and then consultant Miss Vujovic on the ward. We had a really helpful discussion about the diagnosis of appendicitis and the options for treatment and all agreed we’d go for surgery. I had my surgery that evening and the anaesthetic team - doctors and nurses - were lovely and put my mind at rest.

I was well looked after on ward 10 post op with care and compassion (shout out to 1am toast post op) by Ellie and Beth. Everyone in the team was attentive and looked after me well. Thanks to all and apologies I couldn’t remember everyone’s name!

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience, firstly in the Acute Surgical Receiving Unit then in ward 10. It is encouraging to hear that you were dealt with in a very patient centered manner which included keeping you involved in the process which is something that we strive to achieve. I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the teams involved. I hope you are recovering from your surgery and wish you well in the future
