"Sent away from A&E and long waits"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

Was sent away without any painkillers being told that I could buy them over the counter, I was struggling to sit or stand much less walk. Asked to return in the morning for blood tests still stuck in A & E at 4:15pm was not warned needed to pencil out the whole day so no preparation made. When asked when I would have what I needed to go was given rude abrupt unhelpful answer.

Dear Justtryingtomakethingsbetter,

Thank you for taking your time to share your experience with us. We welcome all feedback positive or negative as it provides us the chance to reflect and learn from real life experiences within our department. This opportunity for reflection and learning is vital in quality improvement and development.

Unfortunately care opinion only provides us with anonymous patient information so at present we would be unable to look further into your specific care and treatment when you were in the department. However if you would like us to look into this further please e-mail me on sophie.grills@nhs.net and I will be able to arrange this for you.

Take care

Sophie Grills
