I was recommended for surgery to remove an abnormal skin discolouration on my nose. Given COVID, it did take some time to get to this stage - understandably. Prior to this I had seen a dermatology specialist before referral to a Plastic Surgeon. All options were carefully explained to me, including the pros and cons of each option. I eventually decided to go forward with surgery. It was very clearly explained to me that the skin graft would not match the colour of the rest of my nose. The procedure was done under local anaesthetic.
I was well received on the day. The staff were meticulous in ensuring that they had the right patient and that I was listed for the right procedure. The care staff were very reassuring and the surgeon explained very clearly both before and during the procedure what was happening.
I received good after care in the hospital and good advice on what I was to do to ensure that my wound would recover as well as possible. Following this I attended a number of nurse clinics to deal with the dressing on my nose. I was seen promptly on each occasion and treated with with great respect and also good humour. I have absolutely no complaints about my treatment.
