"Ongoing health issues"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

It started with a stomach ache which led to a trip to A and E( very good service here!) Admitted onto SEAU. Lovely staff but they seemed totally overwhelmed. 5 bloods - 2 of which got lost, 1 was someone else’s results- I had an appendectomy- after lying on the operating table for 10 mins whilst my notes appeared. Not my appendix- need further tests. I have horrible scars now and I’m still getting a bruised feeling around the site of scar. Colonoscopy-Feb. Staff great. Care from endoscopy was faultless.

I was rung up twice after, by someone  saying I had a 10 day referral for another one. This was a mistake. Not helpful for someone awaiting biopsy results. Lots of anxiety. It happened twice. Once whilst I was on holiday.  Fast forward to April. Another referral on 2 week pathway. I had to make numerous calls to the booking centre- one where a operator was quite rude and one where I ended up being picked up by Grantham cardio department despite ringing the Lincoln appointment booking line! 3 1/2 weeks later- saw dr after 1 hour wait. Scan booked quickly and showed I need another biopsy. Three weeks pass until I can see dr again. Another 1 hour wait. Now I’m still in the system waiting for yet more biopsy results.

I am left feeling totally nervous about any results I get from Lincoln County- are they my results? Have my results got lost? No one seems to communicate. With my 2 week referral- I rang the department direct in the end who told me I’d been put in the wrong pile.

I can’t believe- all of the above has happened to one person. I know it’s not the people. I know everyone has been stretched and I appreciate that covid has had a huge impact. I have worked in schools as a teacher through the pandemic- I too know what feel stretched feels like. But I’m gutted to say I feel it’s broken and I can’t wait to get my results and get out of the system as I currently don’t trust it. So sorry to bring such a gloomy story. Lots of amazing people working there deserve better.
