I felt like an imposter. I had an exam of both my breasts abroad which showed cysts in my breasts. My GP referred to the breast clinic and I had a mammogram. Afterwards an ultrasound scan. I was asked where my cysts are but I didn't know exactly. They said that they don't do an ultrasound of the whole breasts. I wanted to know why. I was advised that this is what is done on the NHS. So it was done in one section of both breasts. How am I supposed to know where 5 cysts are in both my breasts!
I felt like they couldn't get rid of me fast enough. The mammogram nurse was great but I can't say the same thing for the nurses who did the ultrasound scan. It's bad enough that you feel like a nervous wreck when you wait for your appointment only to be told that this is what we do on the NHS.
They can do much better and show a bit more empathy.
I'm grateful for the receptionist who agreed to wait for me as I was late but please be a bit more gentle with your attitude. Women are dying from breast cancer every single day. Don't remind me that this is what we do on the NHS. I am entitled to have NHS treatment.
"Very disappointed"
