"All patients should be treated with respect"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

As someone who has a phobia of hospitals/clinical environments attending A&E is not something I take lightly.

I was sent to A&E by 111 and when reporting my symptoms to the staff member I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience and that my concerns were not taken seriously.  This was communicated through facial expressions between the staff member and a colleague, and in front of other attendees.

They were extremely dismissive of my symptoms and I felt as though I was belittled, especially in front of other people.

All patients should be treated with respect.

Good afternoon,

I was sorry to read about your recent experience within our Accident and Emergency department.

I have shared your feedback with the department Lead Nurse so they are aware of your concerns and ensure the team can learn from your experience.

As an organisation we use all patient feedback to support learning and for continuous improvement. Though the experience you describe was not positive, I would like to thank you for sharing this.

Kind Regards,

Aoife Isherwood

Patient Experience Facilitator
