"The ward has been alright"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Daisy Hill Hospital / Female Medical

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Came in by ambulance and into accident and emergency. Accident and emergency was grand, they had a very good level of care.

The staff there were very nice.

Female medical is alright. The level of care with some of the staff has been decent. It is a long day in here as they wake you at 5:30am to take blood pressure, could they not wait until like 8am or something. The food is desperate, the menu is the same and boring, I have not ate that much since I have come in.

The staffs attitudes with some of the staff needs work, were as others is outstanding. Also some of the nurses mad me feel like a burden. The physio was outstanding he was so nice.

thank you for your feedback about fmw

I am sorry you had mixed views on staff attitudes, at any time always feel free to speak with any of the sisters or the manager and we can sort out any issue together.

I know staff always work to the best of there abilities however there are always challenges no matter what environment we are in.

unfortunately there are forty patients in fmw so the bloods do have to be started early so all the 40 bloods can be done as your consultants like to have them back by 9am to plan what medical treatment you need based on your bloods on that day.

also unfortunately again as you are an inpatient your observations including your blood pressure exc do and should be done four hourly to ensure your condition is stable and not deteriorating, I'm sure you can appreciate this, anybody admitted we take there care needs very seriously and monitor all changes very closely.

the food unfortunently I can only pass on your opinion to my catering colleagues again im sure its hard for them to accomadate to all inpatients different desired tastes however im sorry if you have not eaten much, please express this to a staff member and between us we could get you a andwich made or sofething that you may like, nutrition is a key part of recovery so we will try our best if you tell us

best wishes on your recovery

Thank you for posting regarding your hospital experience.

I am sorry you were disappointed with the food quality and choices and I have passed your comments to the Catering Team.

Patient menus are reviewed regularly and feedback is taken into consideration as part of the review process.

If patients have any specific requirements they should discuss with Nursing.
