"Faultless support in A & E"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I had to visit A&E with my 10 month old daughter who had been suffering extreme sickness and diarrhoea for around a week.  On the advice of NHS 24 we took her to Monklands A&E. When we arrived it was busy however we were triaged within 15 minutes. We saw a lovely nurse named Derek and another girl with dark hair who’s name I can’t remember unfortunately. They quickly identified my daughters blood sugar levels were dangerously low and she was immediately taken through, seen and treated by doctors.

Unfortunately she had to be moved to a pediatric ward however during the time (around 3/4 hours) we were in A&E every single staff member was so good with her. They were clear about a treatment plan, checked on her often and did everything they could to try and bring her blood sugar up. Derek came back to check on her which was so kind as she was then being dealt with by other nurses. I have never used Monklands A&E however the staff were absolutely fantastic with my daughter.  My partner & myself and I honestly cannot thank them enough for their quick actions and help to try and stabilise my daughter. For all the complaints you hear about a&e staff they really were faultless for us and I’m so grateful for the treatment my daughter received.
