"Treated with compassion, politeness and sincerity"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Gastroenterology Pilgrim Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

In 2019 I was diagnosed operated on for bowel cancer which was a huge shock.  I was operated on by a surgeon called Mr Rathore the operation although very risky due to being overweight, high blood pressure and being a Diabetic grade 2 was very successful and I’m pleased to be here to share my story.  The impact of it turned me into an emotional wreck, it was like a train crash.  The last three years have been journey of pain, emotion and a real struggle to accept the fact of a Stoma Bag being fitted.  It was the first time in my life I had any medical issue and it hit me like a train.  3 years on my pain is being manage well and the stoma bag is not as scary as I initially predicted and I have fully accepted it as a small price to pay for my life.

Whilst in hospital I was treated from surgeons down to the ladies who served dinner with compassion, politeness and sincerity, and for this I truly thank them. In particular the Stoma nurses Fliss, Michelle, Deborah and Sally who have been remarkable through out.
