I was drug and alcohol dependant for 34 years. I was drinking alcohol daily and injecting heroin and crack daily. I was also prescribed a very high dose of methadone. Every day was a struggle and I would wake up on a mission to get money to fund my use.
My family were still in touch with me but the relationship was non existent due to my use.
When my CGL worker would ask me how much I'm using I would always reply to her "how long is a peace of string".
I knew I had to make some big changes as my health was in a bad way. My CGL worker got in touch with Stacy from the rehab program 'Offender to rehab' and they worked together to get me in to a rehab centre where I completed my detox and rehab program.
I have been free from drug and alcohol dependency, for 42 days and that is an amazing achievement that I honestly never thought would be possible!
I have now got my family, my health and my life back.
There would be no way I would of been able to do this without my CGL worker Katy, she has been there for me through the whole process and never gave up on me and is still supporting me now.
I am also really thankful to Stacy from west midland police who helped me gain access in to the rehab centre.
Katy and Stacy have worked together to give me all the support I needed to get me through the journey
I am so thankful for all the support I have received
I hope that others can be inspired by my story and know that recovery is possible!
