"Calm and understanding midwife!"

I delivered my little girl at 4.01am on the 28/04/2022. The midwife and student midwife were fantastic all the way through. The Labour was only 1 hr 25 mins of active Labour and they were both fantastic and helped me to keep calm even though I was screaming and most likely hurting their ears! They were both so calm and reassuring. It was a very quick and intense experience and their words of comfort helped me to manage with just gas and air (I was having a epidural put in but my baby had other ideas and decided to come before it could be completed). I feel I wouldn't have coped as well without their positive words and attitudes. Once she was born they explained everything to me clearly regarding the afterbirth and stitches etc and made me feel so comfortable. The student even held my hand to help me walk down the corridor to the shower as I felt unsteady afterwards. They were both absolutely fabulous and it was my best birth out of the 3 I've had, even though I had the least pain relief I've ever had, which definitely says something! Thank you both so much for being so attentive and caring in what must be such a busy, stressful job, especially with all the cuts to the NHS and you all work so hard yet still manage to provide an amazing service.
