"A smooth process from start to finish"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was extremely anxious to come in for surgery, but was put at complete ease.  All the staff were so kind, caring, reassuring and genuinely lovely kind-hearted professionals. I was put at ease by the lovely anaesthetist, and my excellent consultant, we talked through everything that would happen before, during and after my procedure.

Once in the ward, I was checked regularly by very helpful friendly staff, even though I knew they were very busy, nothing was too much for them.

I was on a rapid recovery, meaning I would be allowed home not long after my surgery although it was major operation. I went in at 7:00 am and was home on the couch for 4:30 that afternoon. I was given all meds and line for my work when I left. I would have liked a leaflet about recovery and a plan for exercise, but otherwise everything was very good and I would recommend.

What I had put off for some time turned out to be a smooth process from start to finish all because of the staff and care I received. I am delighted. Thank you so much

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to share your lovely feedback, which the day surgery team will be thrilled to receive. The team will be delighted to hear that you felt so well supported and reassured during what must have been a stressful process. This is great example of our teams working together to deliver person-centred care.

I note your comment with regard to a patient information leaflet, giving advice on exercise and recovery, which we have also shared with the team. I am sorry that you were not given any written guidance when you were discharged home. If you have any ongoing concerns in this regard, please feel free to either call me on 01563 26210 or email me, linda.russell7@aapct.scot.nhs.uk.

With all best wishes for your recovery.

Linda
