"Bad layout of toilets"

About: Lurgan Hospital / Ward 2

(as a service user),

I came to lurgan 3 weeks ago by the ambulance. The food is absolutely first class I eat more in the hospital than I do at home. My room is absolutely spotless it is so clean. The nurses are very very co-operative you honestly couldn’t get better. The nursing care is 200%. The only change I would make would be the toilet arrangement, the layout of the bathroom on ward 2 is atrocious. I use the steady for the bathroom and the complete layout of the toilet is just so wrong. The hand wash basin needs moved over by about 2 feet. The back of the toilet where there is a cushioned back is very uncomfortable to where I am left with bruises on my back. The soap dispenser is also nowhere near the sink so this makes it very difficult especially for people who are not able.

Thankyou for taking the time to share your story with us, we are delighted to hear your experience was such a positive one.

We do strive to provide an ‘Excellent’ service to each of our patients within Non Acute Hospital Wards, so for you to describe your experience as ‘excellent’ is very reassuring.

With regards to the bathroom layout and the injuries you have been subject to due to discomfort whilst using the toilet facilities - I would like to offer my apologies.

Unfortunately this has happened, however I will share this information and your feedback with the Estates team for immediate review to ensure that the issues you have raised are assessed and toilet facilities are improved.

In order to minimise any further harm to yourself during toileting needs - you may find it more comfortable to use another bathroom or have a commode placed in the bathroom for you to use. These options can be discussed with myself or with the ward manager of Ward 3.

Kind Regards

We appreciate the time you have taken to write down your experience, and we will ensure that all the staff in the Lurgan ward 3 are aware of your lovely comments.

Thankyou
