"Getting an appointment"

About: The Lawson Practice

(as the patient),

I have been trying to get an appointment with my dr for weeks and every time I call I am always too late, sometimes I feel that some of the receptionists can be dismissive at times, today I ring up and spoke to one of the receptionists who has been there for a long time, explain how I am feeling and she manages to get me an appointment her sense of empathy and calmness makes me feel at ease, its like I have just won the lottery by getting an appointment and this receptionist was the lottery ticket thank you to her.

Thanks for giving us this feedback. We know it can be hard to get an appointment. You may not know that GPs across the country are seeing more patients, offering more appointments than ever before. However the request for appointments has gone up enormously AND the number of GPs available has gone down. The two just don't mix well together. It is a huge problem and we spend a lot of time trying to find ways to make it a bit easier. You were kind enough to speak to me today and as agreed, I'm going to follow up your call with some investigations to see if there were things we could have done to make this better. Apologies to all our patients for the present situation, as said before we, and many other GP surgeries across the country are working as hard as we can to offer appointments.
