I attended the Eye Centre at the Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow in the afternoon toward the end of April for a cataract operation on my left eye.
From the moment that I was greeted by the reception staff, who showed me into the area to be assessed and prepared for my operation, I was surrounded by professional, courteous, and caring staff.
The entire process was smooth, and I was quickly moved from assessment to pre-op to the operating theatre. At each handover it was reassuring that a detailed sign off took place between the staff, checking my name, the operation type, etc.
I was extremely anxious about the procedure; the staff were very supportive and kind. The fact that the surgeon introduced herself to me prior to the operation was also extremely reassuring.
The operation itself was quick and efficient, although for someone as squeamish as myself, a little disturbing, no pain, just being conscious while someone worked on my eye, ugh! Throughout the surgery the presence of a nurse holding my hand was deeply comforting and the surgeon was also sensitive to her patient.
All in all, a very positive experience and the resulting change to my eye sight miraculous! I would like to extend my deepest thanks to all the professional and caring staff that I came into contact throughout the day.
