"Medical science + people = amazing service"

About: Royal Brompton Hospital

As an 87 year-old patient needing cardiac surgery, I was extremely apprehensive about what I saw as an imminent 'ordeal' with a high risk factor. The TAVI procedure, which avoids open-heart surgery and which RBH is pre-eminent in, was remarkably straightforward, virtually painless, and after two weeks appears to have been extremely effective. This was allied to absolutely first class care in York ward by all the nursing staff, notably the TAVI nurse specialist. An event I had been dreading could not have been more comfortable. I cannot praise those who developed the procedure and their colleagues who implemented it highly enough. Thank you.
