"Pleasant and helpful staff"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Daisy Paediatric Ward Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

We were sent by the out-of-hours doctor to Daisy Hill's Emergency Department because of my son's wheezy chest. Our experience in A&E was fine and it was good that we were seen to quite quickly. The staff were also good and incredibly pleasant.

Up on the Daisy Children's Ward it has been absolutely brilliant. The staff have also been very good up on the ward - very pleasant and helpful. I would like to particularly mention Rebekah on last night and Sheila on today. They have both provided excellent care. All the doctors have also been amazing.

The only thing I think that would have made our stay better would be for the ability to bring my son for a walk, even just around the ward, as he is finding it difficult stuck in one room.

Hello Natsb79

Thank you for sharing your experience through Care Opinion on your stay on Daisy Ward. I am delighted to read that you have had such a positive experience and the staff will be delighted to hear your lovely comments. I will be sure to share with Rebekah, Sheila and the wider team - it really will boost morale, thank you.

IPC guidance currently advises that we limit footfall through the paediatric ward which I fully appreciate can be difficult for our patients and their families. Hopefully this will be reviewed in line with current covid restrictions however, until then IPC guidance must be followed.

I hope your son has made a speedy recovery and I wish you both well.

Kind regards,

Jodie
