I am writing on behalf of one of our residents who recently had to go into hospital as he had fallen and needed surgery. We are a supported living scheme for adults with learning disabilities.
He was accommodated on a COVID ward so that meant we weren't able to visit with him. Our resident has a learning disability and needs help and support to understand what is happening and what the plans are.
Due to his need for some respite and rehabilitation it was agreed that he would move to a nursing home near to the supported living scheme where he lives. The hospital Social Worker, Rebecca, offered a very person centred and caring service to our resident and on our behalf was able to support him to understand the need for respite and ensure that he was at the centre of the decision making process.
Being a hospital social worker is a busy and demanding job yet Rebecca was able to take the time to work with our resident in a positive way and also keep us up to date with plans and progress.
In the world of social care we don't take enough time to stop and share our thanks and positive feedback with each other. On behalf of our resident we would like to share our thanks and appreciation for the hospital team that cared for him and also the service offered by Rebecca.
Regards, Manager, Camphill Community Mourne Grange
