"Life changing experience and support."

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

For a long time I felt very lonely and utterly hopeless like I was the only one suffering from this problem. It was deeply upsetting and something at first I could not talk about with anyone without feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Inclusion Thurrock have transformed my life completely. They helped me to understand my condition and gave me the skills to make a difference and think positively. I have come a long way with their help and although there is still a long way to go on my own now, they have given me all the tools, tips and confidence I need to carry on my journey. It was very scary at first asking for help, but has truly been the best decision I have made thanks to all the help from Inclusion Thurrock.

Hello elephantce94,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us.

It seems you had a very hard time when feeling very lonely and hopeless, it is common to feel isolated and as you described "the only ones suffering from this problem" at the beginning of our treatment, but then we realised we are not alone, there is a lot more people feeling the same way, and we shouldn't be suffering in silence.

It is amazing that you overcame the strong feelings you were experiencing (upsetting, ashamed and embarrassed) and you should feel very proud of yourself as it takes so much encouragement to put aside these and to reach out for support. Thanks to that encouragement you were able to transform your life!

I'm very happy for you as you worked hard and in partnership with your therapist to understand your condition, to get the skills to make a difference and think positively. It is clear you have come a very long way as you put to work what you learnt during sessions, you are right, we never finish learning, but you are now equipped with new tools/skills, tips and stronger confidence to continue your journey.

If at any time you feel scared as at the beginning, just remember how far you have gone, give yourself a pat on the back, chin up and continue strong. Well done!

All the best in the future,

J. Isabel Saunders
