"Not answering phone, then no help"

Following injury I needed to keep my hand elevated and iced to try and avoid losing the nail according to several websites. T they also said to take a quick trip to your Dr - ha ha, in the UK! I tried phoning A and E to find out the wait, as a drive and then a long wait c/would worsen the injury. The 1st time there was no answer at all. The second time I was told a 2 hour wait or worse. When I said I might be better off staying home? there was no advice, no query, just an 'OK, bye'. It seems you really are on your own with the NHS, totally underresourced and little care. It's actually shocking how bad the NHS has become.
