Came to A and E Wednesday arriving at approx 6.10 pm .having been sent through from Chorley hospital with my husband who is undergoing chemo at Preston and was having problems with very low BP. We were asked to sit in a corner away from the other folks waiting in an attempt to isolate my husband who is regarded as vulnerable. were seen for blood tests at around 10 and an ECG ,We finally saw a doctor at 1am. I do not have a problem with the 8 hour wait at all, it is to be expected of a busy ED but my gripe is that it was perishingly cold in the department. The stafF were actually handing out blankets for folk to keep a little warmer All the while the air conditioning unit was blowing out very cold air. You should at least be comfortable whilst waiting but it was so cold everyone was complaining to each other. Please turn the heating up...I know power costs have gone up but this was just ridiculous. By the way my husband was admitted at around 2am..the staff were amazing.
