"Call out to my home"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Grantham & District Hospital / Rheumatology

(as the patient),

I have just come out of hospital and I wanted to let you know how very grateful I was for your amazing response. I was waking up nearly every day feeling ill and with back pain and had been taking paracetamol but wasn't much help so I was recommended to try ibuprofen by a family member. Within fifteen minutes of taking it I felt really ill and my wife called 111 and a recorded message told her there were no available call handlers to help, so she dialled 999 and before she came off the phone the ambulance was outside of our house!

The three ambulance crew were absolutely fantastic, kind, caring and assuring. I couldn't have wished for nicer people and the same when I got to Grantham hospital, the staff were wonderful, all of them. I couldn't be more thankful for everything they were wonderful. I was in Hospital for two days at the end of April.

From a very grateful guy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us. We do hope you are feeling much better now and we are delighted to hear that our ambulance crews were able to help you in what must have been a scary time for you. We are very proud of our ambulance crews and to hear that you couldnt have wished for nicer people to assist you is high praise indeed!

If you are able to, we would appreciate you sharing your comments with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team, with as much detail as you can (e.g. date, time and location), so that they might identify the crew who cared for you and share your words with them. You may contact them via telephone on 0333 012 4216 10am-2pm weekdays (or leave a voicemail if you wish) or email emas.pals@nhs.net.
