My 80 year old husband had been experiencing breathing difficulties when lying flat for about 2/3 weeks. This continued to get worse until he was reluctant to go to bed at all. We did everything by the book rang 111 then contacted our Doctor’s surgery with great difficulty, but could not get a face to face with a Doctor. When symptoms got worse we reluctantly went to A & E at Medway Maritime fearing that we would find an overwhelmed hospital service staffed by people too stretched to provide much help.

We were totally surprised and gratified to find that every member of staff that my husband encountered was professional and welcoming. As he was not considered an urgent case he was redirected to MEDOC where after a 2 and a half hour wait he was thoroughly examined and listened to. He is still experiencing some of the symptoms but he is so much better in the knowledge that he has been treated in such a professional and caring manner.
