"My counsellor worked closely with me"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

When I requested CBT for emotional eating I didn’t realise it would unravel a multitude of issues. My counsellor worked closely with me dealing with one thing at a time. Reinforcing all the discussions with practice sheets questions and answers and ongoing work for me to reinforce my newly learnt thinking and strategies.

I felt extremely low and vulnerable.

After my sessions I have a new found strength and find the paperwork and notes a valuable resource to remind my of the strategies I have learnt.

Dear rhinocw84,

Thank you for sharing your experience with Inclusion Thurrock. I am sorry to hear that you felt extremely low and vulnerable but pleased that after your sessions you have a new found strength.

The real change comes from the work that you do outside of your therapy sessions, like you said, to reinforce your newly learnt thinking and strategies. By putting what we have learnt into practice allows us to form new habits and branch away from those unhelpful thinking styles and behaviours.

Well done for all your hard work and definitely keep all the paperwork and notes to remind you of the strategies that you have learnt so that you can continue to thrive.

I wish you all the best for the future,

Ellie O’Shea
