"Pediatric A&E"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Took young child to A& E after an accident resulted in an badly bleeding oral injury. The receptionist taking initial details overstepped by poorly joking about a legally protected characteristic. Proceeded on then, to see very harassed and overstretched pediatric staff over a expected long wait. Came away hours later with some advice and treatment. Sadly the experience was deeply unnerving. The delivery of care is provided by staff who are clearly beyond maximum. The department looked beyond stretched in terms of resources. I didn't leave confident in the advice and certainly would not go back to Blackburn with a sick or unwell child.
