I have Multiple Myeloma but have been in remission since January 2015. Last week I began to experience cold/flu-like symptoms. By the next day I had a very sore throat which continued into the following day.
On Friday I took a Lateral Flow Test and tested positive for Covid-19. I immediately began self-isolating. I informed my Myeloma contact nurse that I had an infection. The sore throat began to ease on Saturday and fortunately by Sunday it had almost gone.
On Sunday I was contact by Dr Victoria Ellison who very helpfully offered me Monoclonal Antibody Treatment. Almost immediately an appointment was set for the Monday at 10.00am. I had the treatment at the Outpatient Covid-19 Centre at the Ulster Hospital. All went very well.
I have been tremendously impressed by the speed and efficiency of the system that I was able to have this treatment so promptly after getting a negative result. Great praise should be given to all the staff involved - from Dr Ellison, to the Appointments System to the efficient and friendly staff at the Outpatient Covid-19 Centre - a lovely bright and airy facility.
To me this is an example of the NHS and the Health Trust at its very best and I congratulate and thank all those involved. I could not have asked for more.
Please pass on my very positive comments to the staff involved.
