"Only one hour a day allowed with a dying relative"

About: Southampton General Hospital

(as a relative),

I had travelled down to Scotland to visit my dying father in Southampton general hospital.

I was only allowed one hour a day to see my father which I was very grateful for, but seems very unkind to only allow such little time for my father and family especially when I know other hospitals allow families to visit longer when their loved ones are at end of life.

I phoned this evening to plead with the charge nurse to allow me to see my father outwith this one hour but she was having none of it and very unsympathetic towards us.

Surely this hospital needs to follow suit with other hospitals and allow families to visit more so that their dying husband and parent does not die feeling alone? I felt very upset and disappointed by this today. Other staff members have been very kind and accommodating and my family will appreciate their kindness.
