"Gallbladder removal and hernia repair"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Surgery (wards 64, 65, 66,& 67)

(as a service user),

I have waited for this op for 3 years had 3 pre - ops, arranged time off work and for the people around me to care for me only to have these ops cancelled. I understand covid, but the pain daily doesn’t get better or the sickness episodes become more frequent and having to take time off work. I had recently been put on half pay and couldn’t afford it so have to return to work while I wait yet another appointment or pre-op. I spoke to the surgeon in early March, who said It will be done in 8 weeks, phoned for an update at the end of the month - another disappointment . This surgery not being priority at the min although I’m on priority list. Any advice on who I could contact would be much appreciated.

Please can I express our sincerest apologies that your surgery has been cancelled several times and for the impact this has had on you. I can assure you that this is absolutely not the service that we wish to provide. Unfortunately the ongoing pressures has affected our waiting times for surgery. If you feel that your condition is worsening I would suggest contacting your GP who can then update your Surgeon.
