"A caring and compassionate service"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 21-23)

(as the patient),

I had a simple slip down a couple of stairs in my house, but landed on my ankle, dislocating and fracturing my tibia and fibula.

I was unable to move and my family called for an ambulance, however we were notified that the service was exceptionally busy and the wait would be a long one.

I work within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and was only too aware of the exceptional pressures on the service at this time.

My husband and son in law managed to get me into our car and travel the short distance to our local hospital- Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The Emergency Department was very busy, however I was taken quickly and my care episode began.

I cannot praise everyone involved in my care enough- nurses, porters, radiographers, theatre staff, anaesthetist, physio, OT, ward pharmacist, surgeons and the discharge lounge nursing team.

Special thanks to the team in the Trauma assessment unit - you are amazing.

I was discharged home less than 48 hours later and want to express my sincere thanks to you all for continuing to provide a caring and compassionate service for NHSGGC patients at this most challenging of times.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your recent experience at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. I am sorry to hear about your accident.

It is lovely to hear about the care and compassion shown by all the Team. I will pass this onto the team, they will greatly appreciate it.
