"The staff are mostly kind and informative"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / General Surgery Craigavon Area Hospital / Orthopaedics Radiography services / X-ray Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I arrived at the hospital on Friday morning and reported to the minor injuries unit.

I had originally thought I had sprained my knee but following an x-ray it was determined I had a fractured kneecap. I am due for an operation on Wednesday and will be receiving a metal plate in my knee.

The staff are mostly kind and informative to me but sometimes I find myself waiting a while on painkillers. For example yesterday I waited around 2 hours on some paracetamol.

The food is fine with a great variety on offer for me. I am comfortable as I can be here but the staff are trying their best to keep me occupied.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to give the ward some feedback, we are sorry to hear about your recent injury, prescribed analgesia has a frequency and staff must stick to this, we can give pain killers when they are needed but we must stick to the frequency and maximum does the doctor prescribes. I apologies if this has caused you any distress and we will continue to try are best to help you manage pain effectively.

We wish you a speedy recovery.

Many Thanks, Stephanie Doherty, Ward Sister
