Had 3/4 of pancreas removed due to cancer. Developed type 3 diabetes (previously had type2) was prescribed fast acting insulin plus background insulin. Felt overwhelmed and confused.
Initially I took a set amount of insulin, my blood glucose levels were in double figures so I started carb counting and it has made a difference my levels are mainly single figures.
I was referred to the diabetes team in Crosshouse and Ayr hospital Ruth has been really helpful explaining different methods to carb count, how to work out how much insulin to administer and answering all my questions in simple terms
