"My mammy fell off a bike"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C1 Gynaecology Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a relative),

On Sunday my mum who is in her 80's fell off an exercise bike injuring herself quite badly. She was attended initially by Paul, a Rapid Response Paramedic who very efficiently treated her pain and reassured her. NIAS brought her to Antrim Hospital @NHSCT. Her initial assessment and treatment in ED  was both prompt and attentive. When stabilised mammy was transferred to the  Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit, AEC  for further assessment  and pain treatment. It was decided that an overnight stay at the very least was required and she was  transferred to C1. Her level of care here has been amazing, no stone has been left unturned in the assessment and treatment of acute on chronic pain. Speaking to her by phone today she stated “ that she doesn’t know how she can thank all staff for the way they are looking after her and preparing her for discharge”. My thanks to everyone for looking after and caring such a precious little lady, my mammy . ⭐️

Dear ssmall

Thank you for including NIAS staff in your very valuable feedback. It is so encouraging to hear about the efficient and reassuring manner in which your mammy was treated. I wish her a speedy recovery, continuing to exercise in her 80’s she truly sets an example for us all.

Best wishes

Neil
