"Great service needs to review food"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

I had my gallbladder out. Brilliant surgeon brilliant nurses and teams the only thing is I am gluten free so when I came around the normal drink and toast offered, but I couldn’t have the toast. I went over 24 hours with no food. Breakfast I could have cornflakes then lunch couldn’t have soup or the pudding thankfully had vegetable chilli and rice.

Thank you for taking the time to share such fantastic feedback about your recent experience at our hospital.

It is great to hear that you were pleased with the care you received from our medical and nursing staff. However, it is worrying to hear that you had no food for over 24 hours. We take the nutrition of our patients very seriously and we are committed to providing a menu that meets the dietary needs of all of our patients.

If you would like to raise your concerns formally, please contact our Patient, Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) by freephone 0800 073 0510 or email dgft.pals@nhs.net

We have shared your comments with the team and senior management to highlight the concerns you raised to ensure improvements are made.

All the best and take care,

Patient Experience Team
