After 2 failed attempts for admittance for surgery on broken lower limb due to no beds available, I was finally admitted on March 1st with an expected stay of 1-2 nights after surgery. My stay lasted 17 days. After surgery , performed by 2 brilliant consultants, and caring and experienced additional team of medical/theatre anaesthetist and nurses, both before and immediately after operation, I stayed in ward 226.
What a fantastic team the resident staff on that ward were during my stay! So many characters that brightened patients’ moods. Unfair to comment individuals by name (that was done by card at end of my stay), but I’m sure you know who you are! Every aspect of care was executed with compassion knowledge, and experience from all areas of the whole service of teams to put patients on the road to recovery. I enjoyed watching various teams encouraging patients to aid their recovery, accessing individuals reaction to their comments so appropriate manner was executed; a lovely elderly lady who was there throughout my stay, physically poorly, but her wit and character were clearly taken on board to encourage her progress from lying in bed to sitting increasingly longer in her chair- physiotherapists, she gave back as good as she got! Highlight of the day.
My slight criticism is about attitude from some of agency staff, fortunately few and far between the rest of you.
Thanks once again for making my stay as good as can be from an anxious person by nature ,and for also picking up dropped pieces of yarn from the floor! The knitting addict!
Hope you all managed to have a thankyou treat from me.
