I am writing to compliment the amazing services of Dr. Mitchell and her team in A & E department on what seems like the busiest night of the year!
I brought my husband into the department by car as I didn’t want to wait on an ambulance after he had a episode of crushing chest pain at 4:00pm.
The pain eased slightly however returned again while we waited 70 minutes to be triaged. The reception staff were professional and friendly and kept updating me. From the minute me met the amazing team of Jen the staff nurse and Angela her assistant we had wonderful care as he was triaged quickly through to the emergency department and given a bed. I was allowed to stay for a while as he was so acutely unwell until he settled. We were welcomed by Megan who told us it was her first day a staff nurse in the unit, she was at the end of her shift but so friendly and professional.
The star of this show has to be Dr John, he came and introduced himself even before my husband was allocated a bed and said he was going to look after him, and he certainly did. He was so attentive to him in his poorly condition, explaining everything and organising everything and all the staff were going above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble and yet the whole place was busy beyond belief. They just kept smiling and carrying on.
What a team! Also a special mention for Alison the lovely staff nurse who looked after him during the night in CAU and the lovely day staff in the assessment unit and the cardiologist for their care and attention even though they were rushed off their feet too. Thank you to the cardiologist for her professionalism and care.
"Attending A & E when it was bursting at the seams!"
