I woke up in mid February feeling very unwell with a fast heart rate. I had had an episode of Atrial Fibrillation 8 years previously and this felt the same, so I rang the non urgent number to get some advice and they wanted me to go into hospital in an ambulance.
The Ambulance arrived quickly, took an ECG and confirmed my suspicions. They offered me two hospitals and I chose NWP as it was the closest to home.
The ambulance guys were kind and reassuring and when I arrived I was taken into an assessment room quickly, assessed and moved to resus, where I was looked after well.
Unfortunately I did not respond to the medication I was given so was moved to Darwin ward where I was well looked after for a day before being moved to A unit in Jenner Ward. for a week.
The nurses were all so busy and rushed off their feet but they did their best to look after everyone in some very trying circumstances.
I especially want to thank HCA Krupa and Nurse Mabel for being so caring and helpful, not just to me but also other people in the unit.
They both were always friendly and smiling even after some very long and trying nights of never ending alarms.
The NHS needs more staff like this.
"Nurses did their very best for everyone"
