"I knew my mum was in good hands"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a carer),

I just want to say thank you so much for all the care and support all departments gave my mum when she was admitted to ward 14 via A&E mid February.

My mum is in the latter stages of dementia and had fallen out of bed in the care home and broke her hip. She was treated with dignity and respect by both departments, and as an unpaid carer were very supportive of me.

I felt very relived that I was included in all conversations and communication was excellent as I was also contacted by the surgeon and anaesthetist , which alleviated many of my fears. I knew my mum was in good hands.

Dear caringxz98

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your mums recent experience of our services at University Hospital Wishaw. I am sorry your mum had a fall resulting in a fracture this must have ben a worrying time for you.

I am pleased to hear that your mum was treated with dignity and respect this is the standard of care our staff strive to provide. I am also glad that you were supported as your mums carer. Good communication between our staff and relatives and carers is so important for good person centred care and I am pleased to hear this has been your experience with the staff in University Hospital Wishaw and that it helped in what would have been a very upsetting time for you and your mum.

I will be delighted to pass on your kind feedback to the staff in A&E and ward 14.

I hope your mum is recovering well.
