On Monday I had severe d & v. After a few attempts of trying to keep hydrocortisone down I started to go down hill quickly. I was very disoriented and didn't even remember about my emergency injection kit. My 16 year old grandson called my daughter and an ambulance. My daughter said I sounded and acted like I was drunk. I don't remember much. The ambulance was there in about three minutes. The young paramedic knew all about Addisons. He did his thesis on it and also said calderdale were really on the ball with it. He gave me iv hydro straight away and anti sickness. I was blue lighted to hospital and sent to resus. The paramedics kept talking to me and kept me calm. The doctors and nurses kept asking my advice on how I felt and how much hydrocortisone, insulin and pain meds I would need. We had conversations and I was never talked down to.
Lots of tests and treatment later which I responded well to, I was able to go home the same day. They said I would get more rest at home, they were right. I slept for nearly two days but am on the mend. After hearing so many horror stories, I cannot praise them enough.
