"Absolute lifesavers"

About: NHS 24 / Breathing Space (Phoneline)

(as the patient),

Called breathing space after becoming so overwhelmed with feelings due to complex trauma. The call handler Claire, was calm, patient and understanding. She accepted me as I was and slowly chatted with me to help me see that my feelings were normal. She carried out a grounding technique with me that not only calmed me, but helped me sleep (something I hardly ever do).

Before speaking to breathing space I had absolutely no hope that things would get better. Now I know that they will, and I know if things become too much again I only need to pick up the phone. Absolute lifesavers 💗

Thanks so much for sharing your experience of Breathing Space via Care Opinion. I’m so pleased to read from your post that you now have confidence that things will improve. Your positivity is evident which is fantastic to see. It sounds as though Claire did a fantastic job by being calm, patient and understanding, which no doubt put you at ease. Getting a restful sleep is also invaluable and has a positive impact on our mental and physical health.

Our Breathing Space staff provide a fantastic service and are highly skilled in active listening and providing coping techniques. They can also signpost to other places of support, if appropriate.

I’m delighted Claire had such a positive impact on you. I will ensure your feedback is shared with the whole Breathing Space team as feedback such as yours is an excellent reminder of how valued their service is by people who call.
