"Kirkcaldy ambulance attendants"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Radiology

(as a parent/guardian),

On Friday last week my very ill daughter who was bed bound suffering from vertigo, balance and motion sickness was taken to Victoria hospital for an MRI. Attendants excellent taking every care to bring her downstairs when she was obviously extremely anxious and in stress due to her medical condition. They calmed her down and reassured her at every step even persuading the MRI team to bring her appointment forward and waiting for her to take her home again. These two earned the name my daughter gave them as "angels"

Following this she was taken into hospital on Tuesday this week. The ambulance crew were to put it plainly, obnoxious! The attendant constantly berated my daughter for moaning and crying as they took her from her bedroom telling her several times loudly to shut up, Shush, stop making noises, sh, there's no need for that noise, etc On arrival at her hospital room she heard the attendant say I canny be bothered with obnoxious and  stressful patients like that, they are likely to give me a stroke.

My daughter is now in the stroke ward of the hospital and in a very poor condition. The crew from Tuesday in my opinion are in the wrong job and at the very least should be sent for some serious retraining. She has said if she has to be in their ambulance again she will refuse to go with them.

Dear maksipup

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to read the experience you describe. This is very far from what we strive to achieve and very disappointing to hear.

I would really like to have this matter fully looked into fo you if I may? To allow me to do so, please may I ask you contact me directly at lesley.kay@nhs.scot with your daughter's name, date and address where we attended.

I look forward to hearing from you

Kind Regards

Lesley
