I was referred to Inclusion Thurrock after having a very tearful conversation with a health visitor one morning when I went to have my baby weighed. I had a traumatic labour and in the few days that followed her birth, it was clear baby was very unwell. Baby was losing weight and we had her checked over in A&E and during this time she stopped breathing and was taken straight to Resus, where she was surrounded by many doctors and nurses trying to work out the problem. She was intubated and put on a ventilator and we were transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital. I went to GOSH with my sick baby alone because of Covid. Having just given birth a few days before this was a lot for me to take in and I felt so lonely and vulnerable. It was hard to relay all the information from the doctors to family concerned at home. The diagnosis was Group B Strep and Neo-natal Sepsis. After we were transferred back to our local hospital and discharged a week later after a treatment of antibiotics, I found it hard to move forward following what I had been through and what I had seen.
My therapist listened to everything I had to say and believed I was suffering from PTSD. She helped me to move forward by using a range of skills and techniques that I will continue to use by myself too. She really has helped me more than she realises and I'm so grateful to her.
"I'm so grateful to her"
