About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Ward 1D

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has been in PICU children's hospital Glasgow for 5 months and the care received has been great. The chairs for parents to sit are absolutely awful especially as we spend such prolonged periods of time there.

Hi ALIFERRADI,

I am sorry to hear your son has been in PICU for 5 months and I am glad to hear your experience of his care has been great. Being in PICU for this period of time must be very difficult for you and your family, I hope your son's condition is improving.

Thank you for your feedback about the parent chairs and I am sorry you feel that they are awful. I agree that it is important to be comfortable when you are spending prolonged periods of time at the bedside and as a result I have asked the Designated Senior Charge Nurse and Clinical Lead Consultant to look into this and explore alternatives. I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I am pleased to inform we have got some more comfortable chairs for parents who are at bedsides for a longer period of time. Thank you for making us aware of this to lead to this change.

That's so good because it's such a long stressful time sitting in picu
