About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Urology

(as a service user),

A recent visit to Eden ward. Overall, the staff were pleasant and professional. One nurse did however come and flush my line overnight with her jacket on, no gloves and did not clean the port before or after the flush. 

The environment was of poor repair which could also affect infection control.

Dear Pollylewyn,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us - please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you on here. I was saddened to see that although overall you found the staff to be pleasant and professional, that you had an experience where a Nurse treated you wearing her own jacket, with no gloves and did not clean the port before or after the flush. This should not have happened and I will share this with the team directly so they can reflect on your experience personally.

Again, it is sad to see that you felt the environment was in poor repair. I would be interested to know if there are any areas in particular that you feel need to be looked at or is it the ward in its entirety? It is always good to see things from a patients perspective.
