I had another very disappointing experience with NHS Forth Valley. After waiting nearly a year for an appt with an ENT specialist re my tinnitus, I was sent packing with promised follow-up appointments (which never materialised) and was told nothing could be done about tinnitus.
Out of desperation, I researched this condition and discovered that it is linked to drops in hormone levels linked to perimenopause. This also fits in with all the other symptoms which I had mentioned during the consultation. Needless to say, I am disappointed and disgusted that once again I have been left to my own devices to try and alleviate a very debilitating condition.
I believe there is a high level of ignorance among highly-paid specialists. According to the British Tinnitus Association, the links between tinnitus and dropping hormone levels are clear. Why wouldn't a so-called tinnitus expert at NHS FV not be aware of this? There could be an easy solution to alleviate my symptoms, such as hormone replacement therapy, and yet I was left to make this discovery myself. I am baffled as to why I seem to be unable to receive any satisfactory or professional level of service. Very disappointing!
