"Health visiting services not available to disabled"

About: Children and families services / Health visiting

(as a service user),

I have been trying for the last 6-7 months to access health visiting services in Thanet. I have post natal depression, ptsd from birth trauma and historic sexual and physical abuse from healthcare professionals which has been re-triggered since falling pregnant in 2020. I have not been able to attend any appointments or clinics as I require a carer to be with me which isn’t allowed due to Covid rules.

I’ve tried explaining my situation, given permission to speak with other healthcare professionals &/or view my care plan but still the health visiting team won’t consider me being allowed a carer to attend with me. My baby is 15 months and I’m still trying to find a way of being able to attend their 9 month check. I’ve offered to travel to services in other areas but no one has replied to me about whether this is allowed or not. Really concerning to think of all the struggling parents out there who can’t access the service as they require a carer
