"My mothers care"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Clinical assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Stroke care Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My mother had a suspected stroke and was taken by ambulance to Forth Valley Hospital A&E.

I would like to thank everyone for the care, dignity and respect they showed my mother and myself.

From the care team at Carrondale Care Home, the ambulance teams, the nursing and reception staff at FVH - A&E the AAU1 staff team and Dr Byrne (Stroke) and then the full staff team at Ward B21 Stroke. My mother received person centered care. Family views were listened to and taken onboard. Care options were fully detailed, discussed and agreed upon. My mother and her family were treated with kindness, care and consideration by every member of the staff team. My mother received the highest standards of care.

We as a family requested my mother be moved back to Carrondale Care home for ‘end of life’ care - we requested this as this is where my mother has spent the last year of her life and we wanted her to be in familiar surroundings with familiar faces and voices. The speed, professionalism, care and respect in which the Staff at Ward B21 and FVRH put this move into place cannot be understated they were fantastic! From a 10am phone call and only a small window of opportunity to be able transport my mother they swung into action The professionalism, care, and consideration in which they responded was outstanding. Risks were clearly identified and stated, the team worked round a stream of constant visitors to my mothers bedside. My mother was moved to Carrondale, back in her own bed and settled by 3pm with myself at her side throughout the journey.

I would like to pass on thanks and appreciation to all the staff involved.

Thank you

Dear So Very Thankful,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback here on Care Opinion. I am so sorry to read about your mother. My thoughts are with you and your family at this most difficult of times. It is times like these where being listened to goes such a long way and it so nice to read that you felt this happened. Nobody could imagine what you are going through at that time and the views of the family, who know the patient best, must be respected. It is great that it seems to have happened that way.

Thank you again and I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
